Good day Stephanie and Daryal,

I just had to send you a quick email to share how thrilled we were with

Eric's DJing on Saturday night.

It's really touching to hear all the music I picked come up during the

night and it was perfectly matched to the next song. People were

continually complimenting us about the music.

Eric always there to jump in and help when and where we needed him - from

the power point support to the special dance requests.

My husband and I are just so pleased with his professionalism, last minute

request support, awesome music mixes, as well as seemless set-up and tear

down.

He is a true artist and created a very magical evening for us. I am

speechless. I can't wait to see him again at my niece's wedding.

P.S. I will send you pictures of Eric with my cowboy hat - I was giving

out props during the dance and he got right into the spirit!

Oh and I have not looked but I am hoping I can still print off my

selection....on that website as a keepsake.

We are always happy to create a custom lighting package. Amy who is getting married in Niagara on the Lake has a specific look she wants to create and we will be helping by providing only WHITE lighting. LED starballs provide a beautiful star-like look on the ceiling while other lighting will be used to accent the beautiful architecture of her venue.

Your DJs have access to 100's of state of the art LED lights and effects

Custom packages are designed based on the size of the venue, number of guests and the client's requests.

Our Classic lighting package that is included at NO additional charge in all of our packages, has been designed to fill most venues!

LED lighting is not only brighter, crisper and covers more area but it draws very little power and can run all night without getting hot. LED lights are the future and a smart, eco-friendly choice. They are our choice.

We can do with one LED light what most DJs do with 3 or 4 old style lights. It is NO LONGER necessary to have a large set up. Just like most modern technology, things are become condensed, smaller without jeopardizing quality. In fact, they are improving quality!

Think twice about a DJ who says 'we bring 10 lights to your event!' as a selling feature. Yikes! As you will see in the videos and pictures what ONE LED light can do...who would need 10 for a wedding?

Our LED effects include either this exact fixture or one similar (again, depending on your DJ):

The Chauvet Elan and Vue 3 are similar and owned by our DJs also.

This photo includes our colour changing lighted pillars with each of the above lights (see video) mounted ontop. The purple glow is our uplighting and the effect from only ONE light used!

As we are gearing up for the Woodstock Wedding Wonderland Show we are following up with the brides from the Paris Bridal Gala.

As one of the most highly recommended and referred Disc Jockey Services around we are lucky enough to work with brides looking for a professional, classy service. Yes, we play the 'shoe game' if you request it, do the napkin dance (which is hysterical fun!) for the centerpiece giveaway and the hula hoop for the kissing game, again, if you request it. It doesn't fit every wedding, every couple and all guests.

We even have a wedding coming up where they have requested we teach the guests a few steps before the Bride & Groom arrive! During cocktail hour the guests are arriving and mingling. We take the guests and call them to the dance floor, show them a few quick steps and tell them that later in the evening, as a surprise for the Bride & Groom, when they hear 'this' song, to come to the dance floor and show their stuff! It should be a lot of fun and a great way to get the guests involved!

As one of our brides put it, we are not 'the typical corny and cheesy DJ.' If you want costumes and your DJ to break into song and be on the mic all night long, we are not the DJ for you. We don't say our company name constantly throughout the night, or at all to be honest. We don't bring a big ugly banner to ruin the decor you spent so much time and money on.

If you want to know the name and artist and year of recording for each song as it's being played, we are not for you.

Bridal Show Season

The first bridal show of the year! Our new LED curtain was a huge hit! It's not for weddings (unless requested) but would be an awesome upgrade at a party-style event! It lights up and moves to the music with 100's of little LED lights. You see here it's making a sound bar pattern win red. The cocktail tables with the centerpieces of chocolates were a big hit! (with bride and vendors alike)

We will be getting some new banners with our 2009 feature couple, Gillian and Michael. (pictured above in our new ad! These guys are amazing and we are thrilled that they have allowed us to use their gorgeous wedding photos in our ads! Gillian secretly is excited about being 'famous!' There was a day when word of mouth made or broke your business.

We have worked 14 years to establish and keep a reputable, well-respected, professional business name. We are proud that our past clients will rave about services without prompting. We are fortunate to have had 14 years of success in the wedding industry and be well known and well respected by other wedding professionals.

Here is what I DON'T understand...

There is a specific DJ service who has not shown up for events in the past. They have literally taken people's money and not done the gig. We personally have been called twice after a wedding has started and begged to send a DJ to work a wedding already in progress because this 'DJ company' has not shown up.

Brides have shed tears, receptions have been ruined and we know many wedding professionals who have seen this horror first hand. It has even been on TELEVISION!

How do you manage to stay in business? How do you not show up for an event on a popular television show (Rich Bride Poor Bride) on a well watched channel (Slice TV) and still get bookings???

This company has a massive marketing campaign and has somehow managed to snow over the fact that they have left brides and grooms standing at their wedding reception, waiting for their Grand Entrance only to find out there is NO DISC JOCKEY!

It baffles me that nothing has been done. Yes, there are lawsuits. I have heard rumours of dozens but still they book events, still they are out every weekend and still they are taking more bookings than they can or plan to show up for.

There will be more disappointed brides this year. There will be more last minute rescue calls to the closest DJ service in the yellow pages.

I will tell you, as a professional DJ service it is our opinion that this company is the lowest of the low. We won't consider attending a bridal show or event that has this company included. We won't put our company name anywhere near his. You will NEVER see this DJ at the shows we sponsor...

It took months of planning and organizing but the New Year's Eve Gala in Paris was fantastic! The Event Emporium www.eventemporium.ca did a GREAT job!

Limos were provided to pick up guests from their homes so they could arrive in style. AUniversal.com

White Rabbit Catering www.whiterabbitcatering.com put on an elaborate gourmet buffet complete with Peking Duck, Shrimp in a solid ice bowl, smoked salmon and so much more.

We rocked the house when the party started and the dance floor was full until 2am.

We used 13 par cans and 5 colour strips to uplight the room and completed the look with a custom gobo, LED starballs, Intelligent Lighting (moving robots) as tracers and spots on the ceiling through the buffet (so you could see your food)

Our large lighting package (which includes our lighting tech Brian and an AWESOME light/laser show) blew the crowd away.

The hallway was lit with 2 Revo 3's to give a 'fireworks' look and the potted decor by Kim looked fantastic.

Here is the same room (The Paris Fairgrounds Agricultural Building) with regular lighting (hall lighting) dimmed and the same corner of the same room while we were setting up the uplighting.

To create YOUR dramatic look please contact us for pricing. Every look and every venue is unique. The fairgrounds had 40 foot ceilings where most venues have 10 to 12 foot ceilings. That means the light is more condensed in most venues and we would need fewer to create the same or even a more dramatic effect.

Of course, uplighting columns, windows or architectural features in your hall also creates a personalized and elaborate touch.

Stryker had their Company Holiday Party at the Hilton Fallsview this year. It's a nice venue and the staff is very accomodating.
We look forward to Stryker's party every year! This year was no exception. A great time!

Busy week

After the holiday party in Toronto Daryal had a Semi-Formal in Wingham for F.E. Madill Secondary School.

325 students attended and it was a wonderful evening. Daryal was warned that 'the kids don't really dance' so not to worry but from 8pm when the first 200 kids arrived until midnight when the dance ended, the floor was PACKED!

The kids did a great job with the school gym. Here are some photos before dance and of the dance.

We use uplighting on our truss to make it a giant light effect. The colour can stay the same, change slowly or fast depending on our settings and/or the music.

Can't wait until the next dance! Yvonne did great job planning the event! We are looking forward to working with this school again!

Holiday Party Time!

Le Méridien King Edward is a beautiful hotel.

The Macquarie Holiday Party was our first event in this hotel. The King Edward has a 'house DJ' and to our surprise, a very warm and welcoming one, but they were not selected for this event, we were.

The cocktails were down the hall so here are some shots of the set up before guests arrived. The room was very nice and it would have been amazing if they had upgraded to include uplighting but here is what we did with just ONE light on a structural beam and our 2 colour changing towers. The soft transition from colour to colour is a great accent to any room but imagine it all the way around, GORGEOUS!

Canadian Mixed Curling Championships

The closing celebration Saturday night was a blast!

Teams from across Canada came to party at the Burlington Golf and Country Club.

Congratulations to Nova Scotia who won the tournament! Congratulations to Saskatchewan for being the rowdiest team at the party!

It was a great night with a HUGE assortment of music to please the west coast country fans, club/dance music fans and the east coast jig and stomp fans!

Too bad the tournament is in Manitoba next year.

Bridal Show Wrap Up

We just finished some great shows. The Simcoe & Area Bridal Show (close to home and our hearts) and the Cambridge Fairy Tale Wedding Show (I went to PHS so I know Cambridge well).

Amazing Brides and Amazing Vendors make for an Amazing Show! Great job Leslie! Leslie is a good friend and owner of The Event Emporium. She is an AMAZING Wedding and Event Planner. Need one? Call her!

Angelique (Ang now since she's my facebook friend!) from Rich Bride Poor Bride was wonderful at both shows. Wonderful tips for brides planning their weddings, funny stories and a nice, genuine person all around. Of course, we couldn't help LOVING the stuff she had to say about HIRING A PROFESSIONAL DJ! Yeah! It is always nice to hear other professionals recommend our services :)

Of course Chef Tracy from The Belworth House offered a delicious cafeteria and interesting discussion on making an ordinary meal extraordinary. Those lucky winners who were treated to her crab mac'n cheese...YUM YUM! I just hope Chef Tracy will forgive us for handing out Free Smile Cookies :( Of course her baked treats were fantastic but from our 60 cookies, all $60 went to Tim Horton's Charities.

Eric was THRILLED to meet Angelique! He has a little crush.

Wedding season is busy straight through until November and then we are packed full of Holiday Parties. Sorry to loose Raymond Industries though. I know their closing will be devestating to all of the employees and their familes. They wrote us an amazing letter of recommendation though and we thank them for taking the time to do that during these VERY DIFFICULT few months before they shut their doors.

New Website

You ever notice that when you find something that works great and looks great...10 more people do the same thing?

It's time for a change.
While others will be copying our old design we'll be designing a new site full of great new bride testimonials and pictures. (Sorry Jeff, I should say COUPLE, not bride!)

Bridal Show season is in full swing and we are lucky enough to meet some great people at these shows! Vendors included. Networking in this business is important and we will only refer you to TOP QUALITY vendors we have seen in action. Not everyone stands out, and there are lots of vendors we have worked with but have not had time to talk and exchange information etc.

We have some favourites and we'll be adding them here very soon!

Felt like Family

Jeff and Val and their families made Daryal feel like family at the Stag and Doe. They were even more warm and friendly at the wedding and it was a pleasure doing business with them.

Val is gorgeous in her gown and Jeff's not too shabby in that kilt!

Dry ice for the first dance gave them the "dancing on a cloud" feeling and Daryal used uplighting behind their head table to really accent the purple and change the curtain to reflect Val's vision.

This was a beautiful wedding from the start of planning right until the end of Saturday.

Val and Jeff will tell you that a DJ does more than just hit the play button and stand there. We worked with the couple on their music selections including a long and detailed list of "Do not plays" and filtering the guest requests. It is the Bride and Groom's wedding and THEY should always get last say on what music is played at their wedding. They were happy to accommodate their guests and certainly gave them the opportunity to make requests before and during the event but inappropriate requests will NEVER be played.

We wish them all the best and hope they have a fantastic, stress-relieving honeymoon!

We've been lucky to spend quite a bit of the summer outside this year!

More and more weddings are at outdoor venues including the parents' farm or home. It's a special, unforgettable touch to a wedding in my opinion.

Unfortunately when completing the planning information couples tend to put "mom and dad's farm" for the venue and no address (we don't know where mom and dad live!) or rural addresses like RR#7 Simcoe.

GPS is a wonderful thing, but it's not magic.

We have never had any problems and ALWAYS review this type of information weeks before a wedding, just in case.

Eric was in Woodstock at Sarah's parents' home last weekend where the party roared on until 2am! That is another benefit of getting married on private property :0)

Tonight Eric is just outside Simcoe at Caroline's parents' farm and it is sure to be another great event.

Saturday Daryal was in Picton for a wedding at Waring House. When we first spoke with the bride she warned us that the plans had to remain tentative as her fiance was oversees. Rob is a Canadian Soldier.

The wedding was wonderful and when it was time to celebrate, they did just that!

Guest requests came in early and the most popular request was for Michael Jackson. Halfway through "Beat it" a bridesmaid approached to ask me to not play Michael Jackson again. This was the bride's least favourite singer. Of course, we provide a "do not play" section on our planning forms for this information but it had been overlooked and we were unaware. The rest of the night would be Michael-free.

The bride did an amazing dance to "Calle Ocho (I Know You Want Me) by Pitbull for the garter toss and had the crowd cheering! This was definitely a 'wilder' group who was looking to let loose and get down (pardon the disco language).

The floor was full all night, hard rock for the groom and his military friends and family brought both father's onto the dance floor. Top 40 kept the bride and her girls dancing.

The last song of the evening was at 1:25am. The couple had requested "Ain't going down til the sun comes up- Garth Brooks."

When the song started the bride came to the DJ table to change the song. It no longer fit with the party mood and she had another idea. I shut off the country and put on Avantasia. WOW! The room let loose, the kitchen staff came out and danced on the chairs, the bartenders were on the floor and the family and friends that had lasted until the end of the party filled the room with their singing.

There were tears for fallen soldiers and those who had not come home yet. There was respect, admiration and love everywhere you looked. A new military wife was welcomed to the fold. Three families became one and they had a hell of a party to kick it all off!

Wedding goes Rave!

The requests for 90's dance and house started at 9pm and didn't stop. The dance floor stayed packed and people danced until the VERY LATE end of the night! What a great party!

What a difference! Friday was a country wedding with some classic rock. The guests danced and partied all night long.

Slideshows...

Surprise slide shows...they are great if they are a surprise for the couple but NOT so great when they are a surprise for the DJ. That is, if you expect the DJ to set it up and run it.

Don't get me wrong, we run THE SOUND for slideshows for about 50% of the weddings we do but the details are almost always sorted out before hand. In some cases we provide the equipment. In others, the equipment is provided for us and given to us for set up BEFORE guests arrive.

Using your DJs sound system to run a slideshow is a request best made before the wedding. This ensure the DJ has the right cables with him and is expecting it. Sending an ill-informed bridesmaid to demand a slideshow from the DJ is never a good idea. The fact is, if the equipment is not ours we aren't required to use it. Running a slideshow is outside the terms of the contract and although we are HAPPY to accommodate you when you ask, please ask.

Venues for a wedding

In my 14 years I have found myself at most venues in Ontario at one point or another...or at least a very good chunk of them.

Some venues book so many weddings that their customer service is non-existent. I believe these venues are very accommodating when meeting with a couple (They would have to be to get the booking right?) but when it comes down to planning they won't let a couple rearrange things, they demand certain things are done their way and they refuse requests of the couple.

To these venues your wedding is just another wedding. If you didn't book them for that day someone else would have and they know it.

On Friday one of our DJs was at such a venue (in Mississauga). Someone broke a glass on the dance floor and it was 15 minutes before someone came out to clean it up. Of course, the DJ was the one to track someone down finally. A staff member came out to the dance floor and did a quick sweep. The glass and the mess was left and our DJ went out and cleaned up the rest of the mess before someone got hurt. Not in our job description usually. A mop never came.

August 21st at Terra Cotta Inn

I have to admit, I didn't know there was a town called Terra Cotta a few years back.

This beautiful venue, Terra Cotta Inn is perfect for weddings, indoor and outdoor.

Christine planned a beautiful outdoor ceremony down by the water and a tent reception just outside the venue. The weather was perfect on Friday and everything went off perfectly. Of course we set up early just in case the rain forced everyone under the tent.

The venue owners were wonderful, friendly people. I was required to use their sound system so they could control the volume somewhat. The venue is in the middle of a residential area so not the perfect location for a roaring party.

Christine and her father surprised everyone by ending My Girl by the Temptations at :37 and thrilling the crowd with a dance to Go-Daddy-O by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I really enjoy the surprise first dances but a surprise Father/Daughter dance is so uncommon and so much fun that they are quickly becoming my favourite!

We had our wedding on July 18,2009 in the Grand Ballroom at the Best Western. Thank you so much for all your help and suggestions. You were very professional and very promt at responding to any questions we had. You guys are amazing.

A special Thank you to Daryal who was amazing all night. Best DJ ever!! We asked for you to play an assortment of music and have the guests dancing all night on the dance floor, and you did just that. All of our guests had a great time and we cannot thank you enough!

Daryal was in Copetown on Saturday for a ceremony on the 1st tee (golfers playing through included) and the reception inside the air conditioned venue. Needless to say, we bought a sun shade for the next outdoor ceremony. Daryal said the equipment was almost too hot to touch and the LCD screens were impossible to read.

The wedding was great and everyone had a good time!

Eric was at the Holiday Inn in Cambridge and had a great party.

Neil was at Cutten Club in Guelph and even with his very diverse crowd the guests danced the night away.

Hey Daryal, we just wanted to thank you for the awesome job that you did DJ'ing our wedding. Not only were you very professional but you reacted to our requests very quickly (even the last minute changes). You played every song that our guests and we requested. So in the never ending attempt to stay current and cool ;) I am attempting Twitter. I did once, awhile ago, but even I wasn't interested in what I was doing that often...I also made the huge mistake of following MC Hammer who obviously LOVES to twitter!

So, I am supposed to be able to hook the blog up to twitter so it is updated..not sure how that works but we'll see.

Received this this morning! It is so great to get feedback from couples but when they take the time out to send it BEFORE the honeymoon...LOVE IT!

What a party! The couple asked that none of the 'standard' songs were played. They wanted house, disco, soca, dance with a little top 40.

The groom did his FIRST EVER chicken dance with his Grandma!

Rob is at Cainsville Hall with a Stag and Doe as back up tonight. I bet that party is rockin'.

Eric is at the Halton Regional Museum. They waived the $5 entrance fee for him. Will the guests have to pay?? Seems the building is a long barn used as a museum. All of the "stuff" is still inside creating obstacles and ambience. The ceremony is outside the hall on the opposite end of where Eric was told to set up. Hmmmm...he is supposed to provide ceremony music. 50 feet away and outdoors??

I think the biggest struggle we have with couples is understanding that just because your ceremony and reception are AT the same venue it doesn't mean we only need to set up once or one set of equipment. Our equipment is not really portable and setting up 2 sets of equipment in 2 separate locations may cost a little more but your DJ can see the ceremony and his cues!!

Whoa Whoa It's Raining Again

Checked the emails at 8am this morning to find one from Kristin (today's bride at Arpad in Niagara Falls) asking that set up be completed by 2pm as they are now having the ceremony indoors.

I hope Kristin got some sleep because the email came at 2am!

Needless to say, Daryal is already on his way and set up will be completed before 2pm. No worries Kristin!

Sounds like tonight's group is looking for a great party. Can't wait!

August 7th - Old Mill Inn Toronto

The Old Mill is ALWAYS booked solid with weddings. Yesterday was no different.

Brule B and Brule C were booked for my wedding. A thin wall separates the rooms and the wedding in Brule A was moving along quickly because during our speeches we could hear the music thumping from the next room.

I had staff ask the DJ next door to just turn down the bass for a couple of minutes so we could finish speeches. I certainly had no intention of ruining the party next door but taking off the bottom end for a minute or two wouldn't hurt anyone. It seemed only courteous and not an odd request for a DJ at all. No change. I then asked the manager Kevin to speak with the DJ as the Bride and Groom were due up next to toast eachother and their guests. He did and there was no change.

The groom, Michael, ended his speech with a "call to arms" asking that I drown out the other DJ and let him know we were there. I did. The party was started and the dance floor was full all night long.

Turns out there was not a DJ next door but a couple of the younger guests armed with unlicensed music, laptops and rented equipment. Unfortunate. I know that a professional Disc Jockey would have been more accommodating. I myself set up the sub at the other end of the hall to avoid just this kind of thing.

August 2nd - Elm Hurst Inn Ingersoll

Kristy and Michael flew in from Calgary for their wedding in Ingersoll.

The Elm Hurst Inn is a beautiful (and easy) venue to uplight and we can't wait to see the photos!

The new manager was fantastic and very attentive to the couple and their wishes.

August 1st - Guelph Place Enchanted Forest

The Groom's brother delighted the crowds with his juggling and unicycle act!

Andrew juggled rings and pins while balancing on a unicycle supported by the Bride and Groom.

As a special treat for guests Anthony and Jill held a scavenger hunt throughout the evening. Guests searched high and low for soapstone carvings (a tribute to their Inuit roots).

An enchanted forest theme was the focus of the wedding complimented by soft celtic music for cocktails and dinner.

Jackie and Jason hoped the rain would not effect their wedding day and it didn't!

The ceremony was moved from the garden to the patio but no one's spirit was dampened and the rain let up in time for the reception.

The tent is "uplighted" with pillars that change colour and color strip lighting to highlight the walls. Dance lighting is shone on the ceiling and just outside the tent to add atmosphere but not blind the guests. The dance floor was full all night long. What a GREAT crowd!
